The matchless birdlife of Lake Velence region is an exceptional natural treasure. The little islands covered with reed part the lake and provide perfect habitat for many different species of birds that can be observed by taking a canoe or by climbing the bird-watching towers of Lake Velence. The Bird-watching Building named from Chernel István at the Agárd-shore of the lake is an academic research center but can be visited also by public. The experts of the bird-watching center offer several programs from spring to fall to visitors. At the bird watching tour experts await you at the swamp of Dinnyés, they show you the bird-ringing, you get to know the local species, you can easily walk the amazing, untroubled nature of the Lake Velence. The Wood-Note Nature Trail is 3 kms long. You will see the following species during the tour: reed-songbirds (great Reed-Warbler, reed-babbler), grallae, anatidae (mallard duck, Ferruginous duck), indigenous domestic animals (Hungarian grey cattle, long-wooled sheep)
